I remember my mother’s prayers and
they have always followed me.
They have clung to me all my life.
God, I want to be a mother who contends for her children…
one of the greatest evangelists of the 1700’s
(speaking to crowds of 20,000 or more) was raised by a mother who prayed.
Susanna Wesley raised John in a home dedicated to the Word of God and prayer.
In the midst of raising 10 children she would spend two hours a day in personal prayer.
Many days she couldn’t find a place of solitude
so she would lift her apron over her head to be alone with God.
There she prayed with children playing about her.
Another of her other children, Charles Wesley,
wrote over 9,000 hymns we still sing today.
